Premier League Roundup

Well the start to the Premier League was very interesting start wasn’t it?

Leicester City and Arsenal were both the top two teams from last season yet they both lost their opening game. This has not happened since 1953! If you include the Tottenham draw, then it’s the first time none of the previous year’s top three teams have won their season opener. What a crazy time to be alive.

Looking ahead to this week’s fixtures, we are going to focus on Leicester, Arsenal and Tottenham, and see how they can start their climb to the top again.

Tottenham vs. Crystal Palace

Despite being at home, Palace went down 0-1 to West Brom on the weekend, a team that finished a mere point above them in the 2015/16 season. Whilst Tottenham’s draw to Everton has at least given them a score on the board, Pochettino’s squad has a long way to go if they have any hope of winning the title. Harry Kane’s golden boot was surprisingly nowhere to be seen, with the top goal scorer finishing the match without a single shot on goal.

Cloudbet have the best odds of Tottenham well ahead to win this week’s game at match odds of 1.47, while Bet365 have Crystal Palace at 8.5 and will have their work cut out for them to sneak past the Spurs’ defense.

Leicester City vs. Arsenal FC

Well this is easy, we can kill two birds with one stone. Leicester’s 2-1 defeat to Hull City has put a dampener on the defending champions’ hopes of back-to-back titles, while star striker Vardy was a little damp himself. The Foxes will undoubtedly be feeling the pressure without Kante in the middle, and will need to find someone to plug that gap against the Gunners. Speaking of gaps to plug, despite his team’s gallant effort to claw back a draw, Arsène Wegner needs to get his players fit to replace some glaring defensive holes if they’re to have any hope of snatching the title this year.
